Favourite songs of the month — July 27, 2017

Favourite songs of the month

Favourite songs of the month.png

Aand it’s time to talk about music again!

I did a post last month on 8 songs I’ve listened to on repeat recently and I thought I’d do another one this month along the same lines. While we’re at it, might as well make a monthly meme of it since I really want to share the music I love with y’all.

Without further ado, let’s jump right in.

[1] Brother by Kodaline

The DAY I published the post I mentioned above, Kodaline dropped this GORGEOUS new song. I love almost all songs by Kodaline, and became so hyper when I saw that they brought out a new song.

I cried when I saw the music video. And I played it again. And I cried again. And so on. For the next week, whenever I heard the song came up on my playlist, I remembered the video and became emotional. IT’S SO TOUCHING. The music, the lyrics, the video, the FEELS. </3

If you haven’t listened to it yet, DO IT NOW PLEASE THANKS.

[2] War of Hearts (acoustic) by Ruelle

I’m Shadowhunters trash. Although I don’t watch the tv show anymore (they have deviated SO MUCH from the books I disown it), the one good thing it did was introduce me to Ruelle and her music. I love pretty much all her music, and when she brought out the acoustic version of War of Hearts, I listened to it on repeat the whole day. Incidentally, she dropped this the day before Brother so I didn’t listen to it as much since Brother took over my playlist.

She also dropped FOUR singles soon after. It was heavenly to get new music with her angelic—yet haunting—voice.

[3] Mansion by NF

I got introduced to NF by one of my friends who shared a fairly recent song called How could you leave us. When I said I liked it, he told me to listen to Mansion (which is quite old), and I really liked this! I don’t usually prefer songs with rap but this one is really good. The lyrics, the emotion, the voice were all perfect. Add to that teeny bits of singing by Fluerie, and the song got stuck in my head.

[4] Secrets and lies by Ruelle

Among the four songs she dropped, I love Secrets and lies the best. I had to share this.

[5] Perfect Places by Lorde

Lorde’s whole new album Melodrama is a gift to this world, and I listened to the whole album ON REPEAT while studying for most of my finals. But once I started tapering off to other songs, Perfect Places was STILL in my current favs playlist.

[6] Bloom by The Paper Kites

I’ve actually had this song amongst all my songs for a long time. Possibly close to two years. But you know the best part of having songs that are nice which you aren’t obsessed with? Later when they appear on shuffle, and if you’re in the right mood, you rediscover that song and fall in love again. I’m quite famous for “discovering” new songs that are already in my playlists.

This is such a chilled, feel-good song. It’s perfect for sunsets, blogging or simply for playing in the background when you’re doing small work.

[7] I wear speedos (Despacito parody) by Mikey Bustos

One of my friends got me to listen to this, and I can’t get enough of it! It’s so funny, and once you listen to it, you possibly might not get it out of your head.

The lyrics are perfect, the music video is perfect, and he’s done it so well! I shared this with my close friends, and I HAVE to share this with you too. Watch it. Trust me, you’ll love it. This deserves way more views than it’s got right now.

And that’s it for this month!

Have you listened to any of these before? Which of these do you love as well? What are YOUR favourite songs of the month? Let me know below, so if I haven’t already, I’ll check ’em out! I’m always looking for new music.

8 songs I’ve listened to on repeat recently — June 23, 2017

8 songs I’ve listened to on repeat recently

8 songs I've listened to on repeat recently.png

I normally recount which songs I loved and played on repeat for the month in my monthly wrap-ups, but I try to keep that to a minimum and therefore share only those that I loved the MOST. This last month, there have been SO many songs I’ve been loving and I decided I just had to share them with y’all separately.

And in particular order, here are my favourites this past month.

1. Saware by Arjit Singh

This is a Bollywood song. I wasn’t that into it when it was released because I was in the mood for songs with beats and dance music. But lately, I’ve been loving this so damn much!

2. Mercury by Sleeping at Last

Lyrics in the songs by Sleeping at Last give me life. I constantly get addicted to another song by them and use a lyric as my status on whatsapp 😛

3. High on Humans by Oh Wonder

I’ve fallen in LOVE with Oh Wonder’s songs recently. All We Do, Technicolour Beat, Drive… and I was addicted to this song by the end of the day it dropped.

4. Despacito by Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee

TELL ME this song isn’t catchy. I caught to it so fast.

5. Thunder by Imagine Dragons

Another song I got addicted to IMMEDIATELY. ❤

6. First time by Kygo and Ellie Goulding

7. There for you by Troye Sivan and Martin Garrix

8. The Scientist (cover) by Gabriella

I was simply surfing on YouTube when I came across her auditioning for The Voice with this song and I FELL. IN. LOVE. I then found her channel and listened to only this song that whole day. Her voice is like an angel’s.

Sure, then there are the Halsey songs but, do I have to CHOOSE? Why?

Also, I absolutely LOVE the WHOLE of Lorde’s new album, Melodrama. *heart eyes*

So these were the songs I loved the most this last month. What were the songs YOU were OBSESSED with? Which did you listen to on repeat? Any new song out that you got addicted to immediately? Do say in the comments!

10-songs-i-like-to-play-in-the-background

In today’s world, most people have music integrated deeply in their lives. We listen to music while travelling, working, cooking or whatever else. Suitable music just sets the mood. And for moods, we have playlists. Here are a few songs from my background playlist that I like best.

2. Soldier by Fleurie

3. White Winter Hymnal cover by The Hangovers

4. Viva la vida cover by 2cellos

7. Pieces (Nighcore cover) (Duet)

8. Where do we go from here by Ruelle

9. Holes in the sky by M83 and Haim

10. Wherever you will go by The Calling

What are some songs you love to play in the background while doing something? Do you relate with any songs I mentioned?

Some song covers I really like — October 8, 2016

Some song covers I really like

song covers.jpg

There are times when you love the cover better than the original, then there is also a possibility of loving a cover song when you’ve become bored of the original. You might also like a cover because of the tone, lack of instruments or the modifications.

Whatever the reason, I think we can agree that cover songs are quite popular, and we all have listened to, at least, a few.

In this post, I’ll be linking some covers that I really really like. So, let’s get to them:

Closer – cover by Sarah Close

(Originally by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey)

Faded – cover by Conor Maynard

(originally by Alan Walker)

Let it go – cover by Hailee Steinfeld

(originally by James Bay)

Dancing on my own – cover by Sarah Close

(originally by Robyn)

Can’t help falling in love with you – cover by Haley Reinhart

(originally by twenty one pilots)

Halo – cover by Ane Brun ft. Linnea Olsson

(originally by Beyonce) (was also in the movie If I Stay)

I listen to a lot of covers, and download a lot of them. DJ, one of my best friends, keeps only one version of a song (unless I send another to him and he likes it, of course) while I have 4 versions of Say Something and Chasing Cars.

Do you listen to many covers, too? What are your favourite covers?

Music in my “Now” playlist — September 15, 2016

Music in my “Now” playlist

I don’t think I’ve ever done a post on music before. This also might be because my favourites and tastes change very often.

Hey everyone!

I have a few set playlists like “for studying”, “bollywood” etc but time-to-time I also make a playlist with songs I currently want to listen on repeat. I only make this when I have more than two songs that I want on repeat, and a playlist is easier to use then.

At the moment, that playlist is called Now and you might already be knowing these few songs, but I wanted to mention them!

Roman Holiday by Halsey

Cheap Thrills by Sia

Closer by The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey

Faded (remix)

We Don’t Talk Anymore by Charlie Puth ft. Selena Gomez

I liked this one more than the official one, so here ya go.

Faded+Alive+Cheap Thrills+Airplanes mashup

I got this on SoundCloud, and I listened to just it on repeat for a couple days.

And that’s it! We might not have the same taste in music, but I would highly suggest giving these songs a try!

What songs are you listening to on repeat? Have you heard the songs I mentioned? What’s your take on them?
