What it means to be a book blogger today

A big part of the blogosphere is taken up by the book bloggers. All of us love books, are better at communicating through written/typed words, and all of us are also looking to vent about books and bookish things.

But! Book blogging is not the simple “I love this book. He is my latest book boyfriend. READ IT.” Its way more than that. So in this post, I will be listing some of the things we do other than the main blogging to keep up our corner of the internet.

Be active in social media

How many book bloggers do you know who are not active on twitter, Instagram or at least Goodreads? You may post regularly but you gotta also bring in people! And that’s through these common areas.

Put a lot of effort into a blog post

Header image, book image, synopsis, structure of the book review etc. We make notes on the book, highlight quotes, read critically and, most importantly, work on sounding coherent and understandable in reviews. Half the time I feel like publishing something like

OMG

BY THE ANGEL

WHAT. WAS. THAT.

HIM. HER. THEIR LOVE. THE DEATH. OMG I CAN’T ANYMORE

I SOO WANNA READ IT AGAIN

READ IT

I TELL YOU

READ IT

ONE WORD-

AMAZE-BALLS

Where do you think I would be if I just put that in the content under the book title and author name?

nowhere

Participate in twitter chats and Instagram challenges

The first one gives you a LOT of advertisement. People finally know that you exist! On the other hand, Instagram challenges gives you ideas to consistently post and also get you into the group.. I think? I haven’t participated in Instagram challenges, yet.

Stare at our bookshelves summoning book post ideas

If you’re a book blogger and you haven’t had this moment yet, hats off to you. Quite many times we think about new post ideas and something unique; and as usual, we look to books. Only, in this case, its valid. Unlike when you wants answers to a physics question. You’ll need to turn to Google for that.

Add GIFs, photos, colors and much more

We like beautifying our posts! They talk about our babies and baes and all our feels; we gonna make em look better! Sidenote: it gets more traffic 😛

Diverse posts!

There’s a lot more than book reviews in a book blog. Tags, recommendations, weekly features such as Top Ten Tuesdays and Stacking the shelves, Wrap-ups, TBRs and so much more! We ourselves get bored with the monotony, forget the readers.

Can you think of any other points how book blogging is much more than just posting reviews?
